AF01 Crystal Clear Screen Protector for iPhone 16/17: Clarity, Touch Sensitivity, and Installation Guide

Your smartphone's screen is its most vulnerable and most used component. A single drop can shatter it, and everyday use can leave it covered in micro-scratches that dull the display. That's why a high-quality screen protector is essential. In this review, we dive deep into the AF01 Crystal Clear Screen Protector, designed for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 series. We'll explore its clarity, touch sensitivity, and provide a step-by-step installation guide to help you get the perfect bubble-free application.

The AF01 is part of Aulumu's lineup of premium accessories, known for their attention to detail and quality materials. Whether you've just unboxed the latest iPhone 17 or are still enjoying your iPhone 16, this screen protector promises to keep your display pristine without compromising the user experience. Let's see if it lives up to the hype.

Unboxing and First Impressions

The AF01 Crystal Clear Screen Protector arrives in a sleek, minimal package that reflects Aulumu's design philosophy. Inside, you'll find the screen protector itself, a cleaning wipe, a dust removal sticker, and a microfiber cloth. The inclusion of these accessories means you have everything you need for installation right out of the box—no need to purchase additional tools.

The first thing you'll notice is the protector's clarity. It's genuinely crystal clear, with no visible tint or haze that can plague cheaper alternatives. The edges are precisely cut to match the contours of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 displays, ensuring full coverage without interfering with the case. The protector feels sturdy in hand, suggesting it can withstand daily wear and tear.

• Includes cleaning wipe, dust remover, and microfiber cloth
• Crystal clear with no visible tint
• Precision cut for iPhone 16/17 series

Clarity and Display Quality

One of the biggest concerns with any screen protector is how it affects display quality. The AF01 excels here, maintaining the vibrant colors and sharp contrast of the iPhone's Super Retina XDR display. The 99.9% transparency ensures that photos, videos, and text appear just as crisp as without a protector. There's no reduction in brightness or color accuracy, which is a common issue with cheaper protectors.

Furthermore, the AF01 features an oleophobic coating that repels fingerprints and smudges. This keeps your screen looking clean and makes it easier to wipe away any marks. The coating also adds a smooth, silky feel to the touch, enhancing the overall user experience. Whether you're scrolling through social media or watching a movie, the AF01 delivers an unobstructed view.

• 99.9% transparency for true-to-life colors
• Oleophobic coating resists fingerprints and smudges
• Maintains original brightness and contrast

Touch Sensitivity and Responsiveness

A screen protector that hampers touch sensitivity can be a deal-breaker. Fortunately, the AF01 is designed to preserve the iPhone's responsive touch capabilities. It's incredibly thin—just 0.2mm—which means your taps, swipes, and gestures register instantly. There's no noticeable delay or need to press harder, which is a common complaint with thicker protectors.

The protector also supports 3D Touch and Face ID seamlessly. The TrueDepth camera cutout is precisely aligned, ensuring that Face ID works flawlessly without any obstruction. Gamers and heavy users will appreciate the responsiveness, as the protector doesn't interfere with fast-paced actions or multi-touch gestures. In our testing, the AF01 felt indistinguishable from the bare screen.

• Ultra-thin 0.2mm design for natural touch response
• Full compatibility with Face ID and 3D Touch
• No interference with multi-touch gestures

Durability and Protection

The primary purpose of a screen protector is protection, and the AF01 doesn't disappoint. It's made from tempered glass with a hardness rating of 9H, which can resist scratches from keys, coins, and other everyday objects. The glass is also shatter-proof, meaning it absorbs impact and prevents cracks from spreading to your actual screen.

The AF01 comes with a 2.5D rounded edge design that not only looks elegant but also reduces the risk of chipping at the edges. It's compatible with most phone cases, including Aulumu's own A17 Aramid Fiber Case for iPhone 17 Series. If you're looking for a comprehensive protection solution, pairing the AF01 with a durable case is a smart move. For Samsung users, the S25 Vegan Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra offers similar protection for a different device.

• 9H hardness rating resists scratches
• Shatter-proof glass absorbs impact
• 2.5D rounded edges prevent chipping

Installation Guide: Step-by-Step

Installing the AF01 Crystal Clear Screen Protector is straightforward, but following these steps will ensure a bubble-free, perfectly aligned application. First, clean your phone's screen with the included alcohol wipe to remove any dust or oil. Then, use the dust removal sticker to pick up any remaining particles. It's crucial to work in a well-lit area to spot any debris.

Next, peel off the backing layer of the protector and align it with your phone's speaker and home button (or edge-to-edge display). Gently place the protector on the screen, starting from the top and letting it settle naturally. If you see any bubbles, use the microfiber cloth to push them out toward the edges. For stubborn bubbles, lift the nearest corner and reapply. Finally, press down firmly to ensure full adhesion.

The AF01's adhesive layer is designed to be forgiving, allowing you to lift and reposition if needed. With a little patience, you'll achieve a flawless installation that looks factory-fresh. Remember to wait about an hour before putting your phone in a case to allow the adhesive to set completely.

• Clean screen thoroughly with included wipes
• Align carefully using the speaker and home button as guides
• Use the microfiber cloth to push out air bubbles
• Wait an hour before applying a case

Comparison with Other Screen Protectors

When compared to other screen protectors on the market, the AF01 stands out for its combination of clarity, touch sensitivity, and ease of installation. Many budget protectors use cheaper glass that scratches easily or has a noticeable orange-peel effect. The AF01's high-quality tempered glass and oleophobic coating put it in the premium category, yet it remains competitively priced.

It also outperforms many rivals in terms of edge-to-edge coverage. Some protectors leave a visible gap around the display, which collects dust and looks unattractive. The AF01's precision cut ensures a seamless fit, even with cases. If you're someone who values both aesthetics and functionality, the AF01 is a clear winner.

• Superior clarity compared to budget options
• Precision fit with no visible gaps
• Competitive pricing for premium quality

The AF01 Crystal Clear Screen Protector for iPhone 16/17 is a top-tier accessory that delivers on its promises. Its exceptional clarity, responsive touch, and robust protection make it a must-have for anyone looking to safeguard their device. With the included installation kit and our step-by-step guide, you can achieve a perfect application in minutes. If you're in the market for a reliable screen protector, the AF01 is an excellent choice that won't disappoint.
